interview with death by bruce cherry

I have to say, you don't look anything like I pictured.

(Laughs) Oh, people expect the robe and scythe and everything.
This is much better. I can surprise people.
They think I'm just waiting for the bus.

Are there any artistic representations of you that you really like?

Anything by Albrecht Durer.
Oh, and I loved Brad Pitt in Meet Joe Black.
I watched that thinking, hell, I'd like to fuck me. (Laughs)

We have to know: Has anyone ever cheated death?

Well, I paid $300 for a gym membership that I never use.
But that's my own damned fault.
I'll tell you this: People think I make a mint off of franchising
my image in movies like Death Becomes Her
and Death of a Salesman, but I don't make a dime.

The ones that really piss me off are the heavy metal bands.

Is there anything you can do about it?

In 2003 I got an agent. They have lawyers looking into it.
I could make a living just off of Woody Allen's references to me.
What's up with that guy?
And they call me dark.

Do you ever get tired of your work?

Once in while you think you're going to have an easy day, then blam!
Another earthquake in Turkestan.
Haven't those idiots ever heard of retrofitting?

How do people react when they find out who you are?

Everybody wants to strike a deal.
The thing that gets me is the number of people
who want to play me in chess ever since The Seventh Seal.
Give me a break. Really, would you try that with any
other professional?

"Hey Mr. Dentist, instead of paying my bill,
I'll play you in a game of Chutes and Ladders."

Any advice for people when they meet you?

Yes: Don't bother with the clean underwear.

Yuk.

Hey, Death be not proud.

Do you ever make a mistake?

Once in a while I jump the gun, so to speak,
and take somebody early

What happens then?

We work around it. How do you think Tupac keeps releasing albums?

Finally, is there anything about you that people would be surprised to learn?

That's a tough one. I'm really into Jackson Browne.
Still.
(Laughs) I get teased about that a lot.
But seriously, Lawyers in Love is a great album.
I guess it reminds me of high school.

Thank you for your time.

My pleasure. I'd like to talk longer,
but I have a, uh. . . .plane to catch.

Oh...

This is a combo of a digital picture
and Photoshop CS2....
This is actually a model I have hanging in
my living room and he has 4 or 5 other
brothers also hanging around.

I found this really neat link to a Japanese

web site to make your own icons but I lost it....

Anyways, this is one I made while I was there.

This is a graphic I did in Photoshop
and after I posted it to my groups
a lot of people wanted me to make sig
tags for them. I declined and selfishly
kept it for myself. One reason is that
I snagged the ladys face off the internet
and for that reason don't feel that the
total image is 100 percent mine. I added
the water and text and background.

This is another one of my favorites.....

This is an album cover from Tool
that I had a go at. This is one of
my favorites that I tweaked. I
especially like the word " happy"
on the forehead.

This is an image from an online catalog
selling neat stuff for the home and garden.
I snagged it and tweaked it in Photoshop
and at a higher resolution you can see
some neat images from a TUBE that I
used for the background.

I started saving tutorials for Photoshop
and even joined a few groups, but the
only way to use Photoshop and get good
in it, is to just open it up and start
playing. Sometimes the mistakes don't
look tooo bad.

This is a graphic I did before I knew anything
about graphics. I took the picture of the angel
off the Internet and tweaked it in Photoshop 7.
I love how it turned out, but will probably clean
up the text a bit in the future. Too many " and"
in the Message.

This is Chief Eagle Feather and he is the guardian
of my house. I was out shopping one day and
saw him at one of those Home Depot type of
stores and had to have him. He is all concrete
and it took 3 employees and myself to put him
in my little Plymouth Reliant, and then when
I got home, I couldn't get him out......
He drove around in the back seat with me for
a few days and everytime I stopped for a stop
sign, he would roll forward and push me into
the steering wheel. I snagged up a wheelbarrow
and half pulled and half pushed him into it,
and then wheeled him into the house.....

He is very happy here and loves watching
everything that is going on around him.
He has lots of company and I know when
I am not here, they are all up to no good.

After a well deserved vacation, I am ready to go on now.
I bought myself a Kodak Easy Share 6.0 M Digital camera
and took alot of pics while on vacation. All I did to this one
was to crop it and post it. I thought it turned out quite
well for a newbie digital photographer. This is a pic of
Butterfly weed in my garden and I call it, Bee on Weed.
